Happy Fall Y’all!!

On Saturday, I wore boots for the first time this year to tailgate for the game-that-we-shall-not-speak-of. Thankfully, it was an amazing day despite the embarrassing loss  – tailgating with (most of) my nearest and dearest, my parents were in town for the weekend, bringing with them some YUMMMMMYYY goodies from Harrelson’s Seafood Market in Murrells Inlet, SC and my Dad’s excellent Low Country Boil-ing skills. I will (only slightly begrudgingly) say hats off to FSU. You really did a number on us and thoroughly earned the bragging rights. But back to the positive  – to finish off a wonderful weekend, yesterday was a perfect fall day. Sunny and crisp with just a hint of chill in the air. It felt like football, bonfires, spiced cider, trick-or-treating, turkey frying, and blanket bundling.

Early Sunday afternoon, I swung by Mel and Crayton’s to pick up the tailgate “kitchen” bins to restock/clean out for the next game and my grill – the STŌK Gridiron that I mentioned last week in the post Tailgate Tools and 3 Tried and True Tailgate Menus. Mel and I were standing in the driveway rehashing the day before and I looked up to see this beautiful sight:

It made me want to paint. I did actually work on a couple of things a little bit, and got some planning done as well. Don’t be surprised if you see some rendering of the photograph above pop up in my art by LAC gallery at some point! The leaves look like stained glass against the sky. The earth paints itself this time of year. I really do love fall.

This morning was the first time I actually had to wear a jacket on my lonnnnnnng 3 mile commute to work. When I got in the car it read 51°, and I couldn’t help but get a little excited feeling that fall has finally arrived.

5 Fun Fall Jackets
Here in upstate SC, as a girl who grew up at the beach with more evergreen exposture than fall foliage, I love that I actually get to experience four seasons. Granted, sometimes they’re pretty short seasons, but I still get a little taste of them. I’ll always remember my freshman year at Clemson, looking out of my 9th floor window in Lever Hall down onto the horseshoe at the spray of color that would take over campus this time of year…the mountains in the background.
There are certain streets in Anderson that I make a point to drive down this time of year just to enjoy the changing foliage. I even have favorite trees. It’s just amazing to me. And with the disappearance of the summer haze, the crest of the Blue Ridge makes a beautiful backdrop to the fall days if you’re heading west on Clemson Blvd.

I hope everyone had a great weekend, and your week is off to a great start! Take time to appreciate the beauty that is surrounding you this time of year (and fun fashion changes too!!). I will admit, switching over my closet is a PAIN, but it is nice to have a fresh perspective and some changes in wardrobe!
