Fall Flavors | Cinnamon | 7 Cinnamon Recipes and EO Spotlight

Pumpkin usually steals the spotlight in the fall as far as flavors go, but the season is full of flavors. I love pumpkin, and especially pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin pie (usually my birthday “cake” of choice), and ESPECIALLY the color orange…But there are so many flavors in the fall, it seems like a disservice to the yummy panorama of aromas that spice up this season – pun intended ;).

I’ll be picking a different flavor, smell or spice each week from now until Thanksgiving to showcase, and I’ve found recipes from around to the interwebs to include as well. This week, I’m focusing on cinnamon, and since I’ve just been introduced to dōTERRA Essential Oils (and have become slightly OBSESSED), I’m still learning, but it is a fascinating journey!

Besides smelling warm & cozy, going great with apples and sweet potatoes, and helping pumpkin spice lattes be as delightful as they are, cinnamon has amazing health benefits!! I’ll expand a little more after the recipes, but just a few include:

  • Mouth freshener
  • Assists with arthritis, menstrual cramps, respiratory problems, colds, and heart disorders
  • Helps relieve pain
  • Aids blood sugar regulation
  • Anti-bacterial and anti-fungal
  • AND MORE!

The recipes below don’t all use EO (Essential Oils), but there a couple that do. I still believe in cooking with the good ol’ spices themselves as well, so I’m trying to find a happy medium between getting the most out of my newfound love for EOs, and my OCD alphabetized spice cabinet…will have to include a picture of it later this month…

Cinnamon is derived from a tropical, evergreen tree that grows up to 45 feet high and has highly fragrant bark, leaves, and flowers. Extracted from bark, cinnamon oil contains strong cleansing and immune enhancing properties. Due to its high content of cinnamaldehyde, Cinnamon should be diluted with dōTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil when applied to the skin and only one to two drops are needed for internal benefits.
