12 Days of Christmas // Crock Pot Hot Cocoa Recipe // Hot Choc Bar and Printable Sign

Y’all. This week kicked my boohiny.

I have made this hot choc in the crock thrice now and it is a HIT. Great for a crowd. Easy to make. Serves about 20 even though the recipe says 6-8. It’s rich, so little cups are perfect. Garnish with all the hot chocolate fun garnishes you can think of or keep it simple with marshmallows and whipped cream. I’ve adapted my recipe from this one by One Good Thing. I made just a few tweaks, but I certainly can’t take full credit.

Ok, here ’tis: 

  • Crock pot (duh)
  • Ladle
  • Spoon Rest
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 6.5 cups milk
  • 1.5 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt

Instructions: 

  1. Combine all ingredients in a crock pot and set heat setting to low.
  2. Stir occassionally, heating for approximately 2 hours.
  3. Once chocolate chips have melted and beverage is hot, it’s ready to serve!
  4. Garnish with your choice of additions. Enjoy!

  • mini-chocolate chips or chocolate shavings
  • peppermint sticks
  • cinnamon sticks
  • marshmallows
  • Bailey’s Irish Cream
  • sea salt
  • caramel syrup
  • cocoa for dusting
  • caramels
  • sprinkles
  • biscotti
  • toffee bits
  • peanut butter powder
  • white chocolate chips or shavings

My entertainer-extraordinaire-in-denial friend orders these dehydrated marshmallows this time of year just for hot chocolate and I think it’s amazing. On my hot chocolate bucket list.
