Spring Clean The Exterior of Your Home| How to Brighten the Front of Your Home For Less

As we have had some warmer days and the daffodils are starting to pop thru the soil – I had an itch to brighten up my house. When we bought our house, I felt like it looked old, run down, and almost haunted due to the faded light blue/gray color of the house. I have been determined to update the front of our house inexpensively until we save to get the entire house painted. This caused a flurry of research and pictures for inspiration. Here are some great ideas on how to freshen up your home for this upcoming spring!

Plants: This is a great way to freshen up your house. You can start with something small and simple like potted or hanging plants. Or you could do something more drastic like re-landscaping flower beds (for a more expensive fix). The pots and hanging baskets are nice because they can be changed with the seasons to keep your house looking fresh and updated. Here are some of my favorite inspirations.

Furniture: Sometimes a small piece of furniture, accent pillow, or rug could be a nice and simple change to a front porch or entry way. Pillows and rugs are simply ways to add color and can easily be changed for each season. Furniture is a more fun and permanent way to update your home. You can add chairs, tables, hammocks, ladders – the possibilities are endless. Below are some of my inspirations.

Lights and Wreaths: Light fixtures and wreaths or front door signs are another simple way to keep the front of your home looking modern and in-season. Lights are relatively cheap and easy to install by yourself. It is a great way to modernize your home, too! Wreaths and front door décor are a very simple and inexpensive way to be able to update your home as well. Listed are some of my ways to update a home in this manner:

Paint: This is always my first go-to for refreshment. It is permanent, cheery and can really modernize a home. I love all the rainbow colored doors I get to see on a regular basis. It a fantastic way to personalize a home. Recently I painted my front porch and the trim around our windows. The update was pretty drastic and cost us a fraction of what it would have cost to restain or replace these items. Here is our result and some other inspirations for you as well.
