School Days Are Here Again | Preparing for Another School Year Part 1 | DIY Seesaws

Many teachers finish their last days of summer by completing massive projects in order to have a head start on the school year. They spend hundreds of dollars getting prepared and then hope that their school supply budgets cover what they spend – as you can imagine, this isn’t usually the case. In preparation of another school year, I had a number of large projects that I wanted to complete in order to have a successful year. My first major project was the DIY seesaws.

I looked at several pictures on Pinterest and got together my inspirations in order to complete my project.

I ultimately decided on the tire one because I thought it would be safest for a preschool playground. Then I gathered my supplies and got to work. Here are my list of supplies and steps we took to put the see-saw together.

  • One tire (preferably without steel)
  • Tire supports
  • One board (we used a 72”x18”x1”
  • One pair of handles
  • Sawzall
  • Hacksaw
  • Circular Sander
  • Paint

Despite the hard work of cutting the tire (since I didn’t get ones without steel), afterwards, it really was a breeze to complete. I am thankful that my husband was so willing to help me put these together – they really turned out to be fantastic and will be a great addition to my school this year!
